Sugar and Your Liver

What Sugar Does to Your Liver

Bob Briggs is one of my heroes in the Keto/LCHF world. His videos and teachings are tremendously inspiring and educational.

In this video, he talks about What Sugar does to your liver. If you’re diabetic, you’re particularly at risk for Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) so this is something you need to know!   Click here and Butter Bob Briggs will show you. You may be shocked, I was.

From Bob’s Facebook page:
Hello and welcome to this page, I’m Bob Briggs.

I lost a 145 pounds with a Low Carb / High Fat diet and intermittent fasting. My videos and website tell you how I did it and how you can too. But more importantly, they tell you why you should change your lifestyle to reverse the ill effects of metabolic syndrome, or what I would call hyper insulin syndrome, which I believe is the root cause of most modern chronic conditions, like obesity, heart disease and type 2 diabetes, to name a few.

Here’s more of Bob Brigg’s videos on his youtube channel for more information:

And his website has lots of articles to get you started and help you understand why a high fat diet combined with short term intermittent fasting can help you reverse the conditions a high insulin level causes:

How Sugar Messes up Your Liver and Gives You Diabetes

Dr. Robert H. Lustig and Dr. Elissa S. Epel explain how excess sugar can mess up liver metabolism and ultimately lead to diabetes on Authority Nutrition, a premier blog for information on Diabetes and Low Carb.

“When someone’s liver is already full of glycogen (which is true of most people), the fructose will be turned into fat .

Some of the fat gets shipped out as blood triglycerides while part of it remains in the liver, contributing to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (4, 5).

At the same time, your liver becomes insulin resistant. This causes elevated insulin all over your body, which can lead to obesity, metabolic syndrome and many other diseases”
